There are so many little pieces of life I wish we could hold onto forever.
The tiny hands wrapped around ours. The belly laughs that fill the room. The way your person looks at you when they think no one is watching. A growing belly before you finally meet your baby. The sound of wedding vows being spoken. The way your children fit perfectly into your arms before suddenly, somehow, they don't anymore.
Life moves quickly.
And somewhere along the way, I fell in love with preserving it.
The Heart Behind Gracefully Rooted
Hi, I'm Esther - the photographer, filmmaker, maker, and heart behind Gracefully Rooted.
But before any of those titles, I'm a mom.
Motherhood has shown me just how quickly seasons change. Babies grow, families change, houses get quieter, and ordinary days eventually become the memories we wish we could step back into for just a few minutes.
That's a huge part of why I do what I do.
I don't want to create something simply because it's beautiful.
I want to create something that means something.
Whether I'm holding a camera, filming a wedding day, crocheting a keepsake, or sitting behind my sewing machine, there's a piece of my heart in everything I create.
Photography That Feels Like You
My approach to photography isn't about creating a gallery full of perfectly posed photographs where everyone is staring at the camera.
Of course, we'll get those too.
But the photographs I love most are usually the one in between.
Your toddler running toward you.
Dad making everyone laugh.
Little fingers wrapped around Mom's hand.
Wind catching your dress.
The nose scrunch.
The forehead kiss.
The chaos.
The quiet.
You.
I want your gallery to feel like your family - not someone else's version of what your family is supposed to look like.
Because someday, those won't be the pretty photographs.
They'll be pieces of a life you once lived.
Film Lets You Step Back Inside
Photography freezes the moment.
Film lets you experience it again.
That's what made me fall in love with videography.
Imagine years from now being able to hear your wedding vows again. Hearing someone's laugh exactly as it sounded. Watching your baby's tiny movement. Seeing the way your family interacted when your children were still little.
There are things a photograph can preserve beautifully - and there are things that deserve to be heard and watched, too.
That's why Gracefully Rooted has grown to include film.
From weddings and couples to motherhood, families, announcements, and life's other meaningful seasons, I want to create films that don;t simply show what happened.
I want them to remind you how it felt.
And Then There Are the Things Made by Hand
Gracefully Rooted doesn't end when I put my camera down.
Creating has always found its way into different parts of my life, which is why you'll also find crochet, sewing, and custom handmade pieces here.
There is something incredibly special about something being made slowly by hand.
One stitch at a time.
One piece at a time.
Made for one specific person.
From crochet animals that become a child's favorite little friend to custom quilts and keepsakes made from meaningful fabric, I love creating things that can become a part of someone's story.
Because sometimes memories are photographs.
Sometimes they're films.
And sometimes they're something soft enough to hold.
So, What Is Gracefully Rooted?
It's photography.
It's film.
It's handmade.
But more than anything, it's storytelling.
It's preserving the season you're in before it becomes the season you miss.
It's creating things that are meant to be kept.
It's finding beauty in real families, real love, real motherhood, real laughter, and all of the imperfect little moments in between.
And I'm incredibly excited to have a place where I can share more of those stories.
